Fashion Throughout History Books

Fashion & History Books

I always have been a history lover. My favorite subject in school is history, love myself some museums, and historical fiction is one of my favorites genres. And that got me thinking, why not try to find books that talk about fashion throughout history? Not just about trends, but about people who made a great impact in fashion in their time.

1- Queen of Fashion by Caroline Weber

Marie Antoinette revolutionized fashion in her time, more than that, she revolutionized their time through fashion. In this revealing and original work, full of beautiful illustrations,  Caroline Weber adopts a different perspective from any other biography ever published on the controversial life of the French queen. And it shows how fashion was at once the reason of Marie Antoinette's acceptance and the reason of her tragic end.
This is my number 1° to be read book this summer, after watching a movie about Marie Antoinette and a documentary.

2- 100 Years of Fashion by Cally Blackman

This book has more than 400 iconic pictures of fashion in the 20th century. From the entry of women into the labor market to the movements of urban groups as trendsetter of style freedom of today.
The book features classics designer like Coco Chanel, Jeanne Lanvin, Cristobal Balenciaga and Christian Dior. And it shows the work of contemporary designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs.
